Natural Childbirth and You

I teach expecting mothers controlled muscle relaxation and visualization techniques to eliminate the fear, tension and pain associated with an extended birthing experience.

I guide mothers through relaxation exercises similar to meditating for during and between surges. I also work closely with the birthing companion, who plays an integral role in the birthing by supporting the mother in maintaining her deep level of relaxation.

You'll learn gentle breathing techniques to eliminate fatigue during labour, leaving mother feeling fresh, awake and energized as she bring her baby into the world.


How Fear and Tension Affects Labour

The thought of impending labour and delivery is enough to produce fear and uncertainty in most women. Unfortunately that fear and tension forces your baby against and ultimately through tight muscles, possibly leading to complications and the need for intervention.

The uterus is composed of muscle tissue that responds like any other muscle in you body. When engaging in exercise it is important to remain relaxed because when you tense up your muscles will hurt and fatigue easily. Once you are able to maintain a level of relaxation during exercise you will have less discomfort, greater endurance and increased strength. During labour this same principle applies.

We will work together to replace that fear and tension with confidence, a deep calm and comfort as nature had intended.
