In 2006, Gerry was Co-Lead of the Special Project for System’s Integration, a joint initiative of the Champlain Local Health Integrated Network, Royal Ottawa Health Care Group and the Canadian Mental Health Association, Ottawa Branch.
The Special Project explored the challenges of discharging individuals with dual diagnosis, and those with severe and persistent mental illness, from inpatient settings to community supports. Gerry was the author of the Special Project’s two-part report (Into the Community At Last?), making key recommendations for system’s improvements and informing change initiatives in the health care, mental health and developmental sectors in Eastern Ontario.
