Gerry Casey

Gerry Casey M.S.W.,RSW is the Owner and Principal Consultant at Gerry Casey Consulting. Gerry is a recognized leader in the field of developmental and mental health services in Eastern Ontario, with over twenty years experience working with individuals with intellectual disability, significant mental health concerns and other complex needs.

Gerry has a Bachelor of Arts degree(1990) and a Master of Social Work degree (1995) from Carleton University, and a Certificate in Habilitative Mental Health (1998) from Brock University’s International Certificate Program in Dual Diagnosis. He is a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers.

Gerry brings a solid base of expertise to his practice, developed through extensive work with individuals with complex needs, their families and circles of support, and the multitude of community and institutional services that support them. His experience has included front-line social work in the child welfare and education systems, community-based residential support, specialized assertive community treatment, multi-agency project development, program management, and teaching and training.

Gerry was Operations Coordinator of a 22 bed psychiatric inpatient unit specializing in treating individuals with intellectual disability and significant mental health concerns (dual diagnosis), and was centrally involved in the development of a specialized clinical supports and services agency for individuals with dual diagnosis in Eastern Ontario.

Gerry is a strong guide and advocate for individuals and families pursuing services in complex systems, and for agencies and other professionals struggling to support individuals with complex needs. Whether treatment planning for an individual, or developing capacity in an agency or system of support, Gerry has the demonstrated ability to bring insight, expertise and collaborative problem solving to complex situations.

Gerry is equally comfortable and skillful working across the boardroom table of large agencies and at the kitchen table of family homes.
